We all want to feel more in
control of our days however all to often our day ends up controlling us. We can
quickly get lost in the shuffle of this and that – mindlessly just surviving. Unfortunately
all too often the days that we find ourselves busiest are also the days we feel
incredibly scattered and unproductive.
Fortunately, a few changes can help us simply our lives leading to
better management of our day-to-day tasks. While some of these are easier than
others, find what works for you. there are thousands of lists and suggestions out
there on how to simply your life, these are just some of my top favorite (and
easiest)!
- Open your mail everyday: split each item into categories - Put bills with your finance stuff, throw away junk mail, shred bank and credit card offers, put magazines where you plan to read them. The goal is to avoid a messy overflowing pile of envelopes when most of the mail you get is probably trash.
- Get Organized: Disorganization is suffocating and time consuming. Pick an area of your home each week (or month) and get organized: one room at a time.
- Get in the habit of putting things away: Once you and your home are organized, everything should have a place. We waste so much unnecessary time looking for things and trying to sift through disorganized piles.
- Plan our your meals before your week starts. An overly structured system like this doesn’t work for everyone however everyone can benefit from some forethought in this area. By planning out your meals ahead of time, you can ensure you only need to go to the store 1x and won’t have to spend mental energy and time trying to figure out what you can put together after a long day of work. Planning your meals allows you to have more elaborate and varied meals because you are able to do some of the prep work ahead of time.
- Keep a master calendar.
