Are you looking for a little help getting starting on the right foot with your diet? Being that most of us could use a little more direction when it comes to our daily diet, Choose My Plate is a wonderfully updated resource to help ensure we're getting the most out of our calories & workouts.
While I’m not discounting the effectiveness of other
well known diet and nutrition plans currently on the market, I am encouraging
you to try utilizing the information you learned way back when…cupeled within the new guidelines. I’m sure you
remember learning about the food pyramid throughout your school years, and
while the pyramid has been upgraded to the plate and the guidelines have
been modified, the USDA's message remains the same'
MyPlate helps individuals use the Dietary Guidelines to:
MyPlate helps individuals use the Dietary Guidelines to:
- Make smart choices from every food group.
- Find balance between food and physical activity.
- Get the most nutrition out of calories.
- Stay within daily calorie need
Since it's release, the USDA's Plate has received it's fair share of criticism as did both models of The Pyramid, Unfortunately there are no perfect guidelines nor ones that can be accurate for every body type. it is however an excellent starting point to examine our eating behaviors and help us simplify what we take in. Possibly by combining the knowledge of past and present we may surprisingly find we don’t actually need a secret trick or the new power food to improve our health, instead we need to simplify and get back to the basics we learned as kids.
Remember that health is not synonymous with diet, but is instead to be
conceptualized as a way of life -- not a short term goal.

not meant to be spent counting calories, but to be spent enjoying life's
